Elementary & High School
Pupils starting in the first year of elementary school should be able to read and write at a basic level. They will start learning to write in cursive script — something we insist on — and this will be taught throughout their schooling just like any other subject.
Every week pupils are assessed in the four primary subjects: Spanish Language, Mathematics, Social Sciences (History and Geography) and Natural Sciences.
During recess pupils can play basketball in the playground or buy food and drink from the cafeteria. At lunchtime they are required to eat in the outdoor dining area, whether they eat school meals or bring their own.
All pupils are required to wear a uniform. Boys wear navy blue pants and tie, white shirt and black shoes. Girls in elementary school wear a navy blue dress, white shirt and black shoes. And girls in high school wear a navy blue skirt and tie, white shirt and black shoes.
All lessons are in Spanish (with the exception of foreign languages) and follow the Dominican curriculum.
The following subjects are studied throughout elementary school:
- Spanish Language
- Mathematics
- Social Sciences (History and Geography)
- Natural Sciences
- Cursive writing
- Reading
